Big City The Boss & The Star Status Ent.Campaign!
Born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, Big City was his own teacher. He quickly learned that if he wanted something, he had to go out and get it himself, by any means necessary. That hustle mentality is still his driving force today.
At an early age, City was introduced to music through the talents of his family members. Unfortunately, music was not the only thing young City was exposed to. With drug addiction, abuse, & neglect playing a major role in his early years, Big City dropped out of school in the 4tth grade. From becoming a member of one of the most well known gangs in Chicago at the age of 9, to financially supporting his older sister and her newborn baby, to living in abandoned buildings, the young adolescent had already faced many more tribulations than some would ever experience through their entire adulthood. At the age of 11, a narcotics & attempted murder case would have City laying his head at the juvenile prison, St. Charles, for the next 36 months. Being named a menace to Chicago upon his release, the conditions warranted he must move out of the state, making Minnesota his new home. It didn’t take long for the self-proclaimed ‘street mogul’ to earn the respect of the Twin Cities, along with his name, Big City. Although, it wasn’t easy to avoid the expected afflictions that stemmed from his upbringing, his first two loves remained constant, music and money. Looking for ways to incorporate the things that he enjoyed the most, City started his own entertainment company,
Star Status Entertainment. The CEO began promoting concerts throughout the Twin Cities, as well as hosting one of the biggest club nights weekly that Minneapolis has seen to date. Enjoying being a businessman, Big City decided to expand Star Status Entertainment to a record label. He took multiple artists under his wing and began funding their projects. After taking major hits financially, the determined hustler decided that if others around him weren’t willing to dream as big as he did, then he would make it a reality on his own. As if, becoming co-owner of a bar in his hometown and launching his own real estate company weren’t already enough to handle, Big City made the decision to add rapping to his resume. Relocating to Atlanta, GA, the booth quickly became his second home and it didn’t take much to notice that along with records that people couldn’t get out of their heads, a personality to win over everyone he came in contact with, and “Big boy swag”, City had exactly what it would take to make him easy to remember and hard to forget. Finally feeling that he may have found the right team of people to believe in him as much as he believed in himself, Big City began working on his mixtape,
Perfect Timing. Containing collaborations with artists from his own label, as well as nationally known recording artists, with deliberation from Dj’s and tastemakers,
it was decided that “Bye Bye” would be the single to drop for 2013.What should have been major downfalls, ultimately turned out to be nothing, but mere setbacks for what would become the beginning of something great. With determination, ambition, drive, and memories of what it took to get to where he is today, from his own mouth, we can expect “Nothing, but big things" from
Big City and Star Status Entertainment.”
